John Fordham, the Guardian
I am thrilled to announce the release of A Relentless Now, a 40-minute album that extends traditional concepts of time. This immersive work invites listeners to explore a continuous, evolving sonic landscape, challenging and expanding their perceptions of polyphonic time.
To complement the album, I’ve also created a partner film that delves deeper into this approach, offering a visual dimension to the exploration of time and sound.
Support the journey and help fund my next release by purchasing the album here.

Imprint is a collaborative project between artist ed Berriman and musician Dan Stern. Their paths crossed through educational endeavours, and they soon discovered a shared passion for sound, art, and conceptual practices. During a conversation about spatialised music, ed likened Dan’s approach to ‘printing’ sound, and thus, Imprint was born. Their collaboration spans various media, including installation, monotype print, film, dance, and live music.

Time Out Of Time is the fourth solo album by Dan Stern.
This album is crafted from environmental recordings captured over a single day, night, and morning in early summer in London. It weaves a rich tapestry of acoustic and electronic sounds, exploring themes of sound, space, culture, and the environment to evoke a sense of drifting away from time.
The work is characterised by its improvised, slow-motion approach, with the only rule being that all sonic entries and exits must be subtly hidden or displaced. In this fluid soundscape, nothing remains constant; everything is grounded in a constantly shifting, intangible space.

Broken Time is a collection of immersive sound installations presented in stereo. This album represents Dan Stern’s inaugural exploration into improvised polyphony as a critical practice. The pieces range from Renaissance-inspired polyphonic improvisations to evocative murmurations of clattering saxophone keys and melodies shaped by breathy harmonics.
